Bronze Swimmers will primarily focus on learning body control and balance in the water as well as the basic techniques of swimming the four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke and freestyle. They will learn how to listen and respond to instructions from coaches and participate in meets. The criteria for joining the Bronze team is the swimmer can at least stay afloat, is comfortable in the deep water and can come to practice 2 out of 3 days
Silver Swimmers will continue to focus on body control, the four competitive strokes, turns, and starts while adding small training sets to develop aerobic capacity. They will continue to focus on listening to instructions from coaches, participate in meets, and perform simple math via counting laps, calculating sets and reading clocks. The criteria for joining the Silver team is the swimmer can swim freestyle and backstroke, has basic instruction in butterfly and breaststroke and can attend practice 2 out of 3 days.
Gold Swimmers will continue focus on body control, the four competitive strokes, turns, starts, larger training sets to develop aerobic capacity, and race strategies. In addition to listening skills, participating in meets, and simple math the athletes will set and track goals for the season. The criteria for joining the Gold team is the swimmer can swim all four strokes and can attend practice 3 out of 4 days.
Gold Elite Swimmers continue to develop swimming technique, but the primary focus changes to aerobic capacity and race strategies. In addition to the basic life skills developed in the other levels, the athlete learns self discipline and training techniques. The criteria for joining the Gold Elite team is the swimmer be proficient in the four strokes, has a base of aerobic capacity and can attend practice 4 out of 5 days.
Senior Swimmers are usually in the end of middle school or high school and primary focus on developing aerobic capacity, strength training, technique, and race strategies. The athlete will learn how goal setting, discipline, and practice impacts personal performance. The criteria for joining the Senior team is the swimmers be proficient in four strokes, and has a base aerobic capacity and can attend practice 4 out of 5 days.
